Feedburner Dropping RSS Subscribers? Can You Avoid Losing Yours?

When I decided to change the original feed URL to my new one (albeit it should have made no difference since the feed ADDRESS was not changing!) my subscriber count DROPPED from 132 to 9!!!!!
