Are you struggling to stay focused?
Do you find yourself constantly distracted and pulled into too many directions?
How much of this is due to the pull of your email inbox?
Does it feel like you might be missing something if you don’t catch it when it comes in?
Have you noticed the number of times per day you find yourself drawn to the email inbox vortex?
Well I have here a few methods I use to reduce the gravitational pull of the dreaded email and my work has been much more focused since employing these little tactics I’ll show you in the video below.
If you don’t use Gmail you can probably still implement similar tactics in your own client, but I have to recommend it for it’s practical approach to time management requirements of the busy entrepreneur!

Another method that Gmail provides and which I’ve used to save even more time are the Groups you can create in your Contacts list (similar to Lists in other email clients; helps you find people you need to message all at once).
And I have to mention the Gmail Canned Responses here as well, since they also come in as a very handy time saver!

you can set up the filters (right at the top of the gmail page you have the option “create a filter”). There you can set your criteria for “filtering”. For example, you want the webanswers subscription mails to come into one folder. Then click on CREATE A FILTER. In the from field enter “info@webanswers.com” and say check filter. All the websnswers subsciption mails will be listed, now you can choose what you want to do with the filter. Usually I set it to “Skip the inbox” and Set label as say “webanswers” (you’ll have to create a new label every time you want a new “folder”). Then select “all the XX mails below” and click on “Create the Filter”. The mails will be nicely filtered and show up in that filter only.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Elijah, I guess I didn’t transcribe what was in my video but you got at least part of it!
All the best,

According to me another method that Gmail provides and which I’ve used to save even more time are the Groups you can create in your Contacts list (similar to Lists in other email clients; helps you find people you need to message all at once).

Hi Claudia! Did I not mention that! My goodness, I sure meant to, thanks for adding it, you’re absolutely right. I use them all the time!
Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday!

I can’t even start describing how much we’ve wasted our time on emails, reading, checking, reading it all over again. It’s a way for us to procrastinate and we might not notice any effects from it but in long term, we will. I find having separate email accounts for each need very helpful, that way I won’t have to spend time reading things not related to work or things like that. It saves me a lot of time and keeps from me straying off work.
Thanks Veronica! That’s a great suggestion, to keep seperate accounts. I do that as well, with my gmail being only business related stuff. I have 2 accounts for spam and list topics I’ve subscribed to, a home/family email and one more for my day job. It seems like a lot, but it’s a blessing not to have them all combined!
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!

Wishing You Wonderful Success,
I’ve been trying to get to the point where I only check email once a day… I haven’t quite gotten there yet but it’s a heck of a big improvement over checking it every 15 minutes and not getting a lick of real work done.
Hi, Vicki! Such a timely email. Checking email has been probably the greatest time suck for me! Thanks for this!

Thanks Wendy! I know, I’ve really focused on curbing my attention to the constant pull, and when I can make it go to the background and ignore it for a huge part of the day, I get LOTS more done! I have to keep up or drown so I do a quick check early in the day and then just at the end before quitting for the night… works for me, but if you can do less than that then great! The filters help too, awesome!
Wishing You Tremendous Success!
To achieve success is an easy task than to maintain it or keep on going with the same level of success. Everyday at work is not the same day. At times there are certain days when the work and productivity is very good and then there are certain days when the productivity is low, but then everyone, each individual goes through this cycle.
