Using Keywords, SEO and Social Media
You are probably aware of how important it is that you are using Keyword Research, and you might realize how important SEO and Social Media are as well. But have you considered how much more powerful they are when used together?
As a matter of fact, using these things in combination rather than in isolation or by missing just one, you will rank much higher in search engine results for your targeted keywords.

Your By-the-Book SEO
I have written a post on the Keys to Effective SEO, which give you the basic and most essential tools like your on page SEO coach, the SEO Pressor plugin. I could not do anywhere near as well as I do without that!
Practicing good SEO habits includes ensuring that your HTML tags are associated with your keywords – in your title and other meta tags, image ALT tags, as well as your body text and URL.
The keyword phrase might appear in your post title, as close to the beginning as possible, and at least three times in the body text, and at least in the first and last paragraphs.
You also may have even taken into account the LSI (Latent Semantic Indexed) words, which indicate more relevance of the particular content to the given search term (place as many as 20 or 30 of these words throughout your content).
And you may have thought to place a few deep links within your post, ones that lead to other articles within your site.
But, if you went through all of this trouble, yet did not take time to do a little keyword research to be sure that you have selected your primary keyword phrase carefully, it may be somewhat of a wasted effort.
The Keyword Key
Keyword research for your primary keyword phrase should be done in order to maximize your SEO.
Being Keyword Conscious at the same time you are SEO Savvy will result in a higher search engine rank. Effective keyword research is important because it brings in a much more highly targeted audience.
In this case the searcher is looking for the content that you are providing, and the longer the keyword phrase, the more targeted the search. And a nice side effect of this is going to even benefit the search rank in another way; a decreased bounce rate (longer period of time the reader stays on your page).
Now with this post I have a kind of ridiculously long keyword, but I’m really trying to make a point as much as I’m trying to be SEO primed. So I hesitate to repeat the same long phrase enough times to have a decent SEO score here, so at least here goes one of those required H2 tags!
Combining SEO and Social Media to Dominate Search Engines
The Social Media Secret
The fact of the matter is this; adding social media marketing for content syndication increases the power of your keyword research and SEO efforts by a mile. Especially now with Google’s new algorithm changes.
However, effective Social Media Marketing not only adds a boost to your search engine ranking by an increase of inbound links, and overall popularity, but it may also add a bit of a twist in your headline selection.
Consider the dilemma of having a post title that is going to catch the attention of a potential reader, but at the same time contain a long tail keyword phrase that is going to allow you a potentially top of the first page rank on the search engine results.
Might pose a bit of a problem, no? Well, this is where you may even make it fun. Wacky titles might be possibly intriguing enough to catch attention and yet contain a great keyword phrase.
And you certainly cannot forget the importance of integrating good SEO and Social Media.
The SEO and Social Media Winning Pair
Combining all of these factors will have your rankings improve when using them collectively, more powerful as a cohesive tool!
As long as you have a balance of good keyword and LSI presence, inbound links, and SEO layout of your content, you’ll probably fare very well.
It is the combination of Keyword Research, SEO and Social Media to Dominate Search Engines that will have you on Google’s front page every time!
Great Post Vicki,
Utilizing your Social Media Connections is really important when implementing SEO! It’s important that you build strong relationships with other people in your niche so you can link between relevant content!
This is great information Vicki! It may be tough to target a specific key term for this post you may find that those who type in “long-tail” key terms or phrase may come across this post and find it extremely useful!
Thank you so much for mentioning my post!

Hey Vicki! I am really just diving in deeper to understand how much SEO and keyword targeting affect traffic and search engine position. When I started blogging I was only targeting readers but now I am trying to learn how to balance the two. Thanks for this great information.

Hi Angela!
Thanks for stopping by, great to see you!
I’m also trying to make myself more conscious of the SEO part of writing. I think it is a challenge to balance the two, I mean I understand the mechanics of the SEO part but it’s not something I am inclined to integrate easily when I just want to make a point, to provide what I think others want to hear.
I think that comes largely from being in the social networking realm and wanting to appeal to your target market there, as opposed to appealing to the search engines. But at least understanding how you can garner even more traffic outside of your social networks by finding just the right terms and writing around those terms and related words (the LSI words) can make such a huge difference! So writing ABOUT this helps me to focus on it as well!
Thank you for your comment and for sharing my content!

Awesome Tips Vicki! Thanks for sharing! I definitely agree… Social Media is so very powerful to your SEO strategies. It is a must! Also, choosing the right keywords and targeted keywords at that are vital and imperative to creating a successful post!

Thank You Jennifer!
Yes, as a matter of fact social media has been more powerful for me than SEO, probably because that is where I started, having not been proficient at keyword research and utilization. It provides a way for someone to start out until they do learn those skills, but once you master both I believe you have the best power possible at your fingertips, the trick is integrating the two successfully!
Thanks again for stopping by, always a pleasure to see you!
Wishing You Wonderful Success,

I watched a webinar last night about SEO and the presenter said that the latest version of Google’s indexing engine puts a lot more emphasis on activity. While content, keywords, and links are still very important, they won’t be enough anymore to rank high all by themselves. Things like RSS, the Networked Blogs and Friend Connect widgets that you already have, and posting regulary are becoming more important.

Hi Wayne!
Thanks for that, I had also just read an article today that Social Media influences and connections are becoming far more powerful than a search engine ranking, and recently noticing that Google’s search results will include those from your own social connections is proof even more that their results will put more weight on Social Media activity, such as you said, regular postings!
Thanks much for your added value! It’s always a pleasure to see you!
Wishing You Wonderful Success,

Hey Vicki,
Thanks for your informative article… unfortunately it’s not like the older days for SEO. Back in those days the competition wasn’t as great, and all it seemed you needed to do was submit your site once a month to the search engines via dial-up, and you were on the top of the rankings for your keywords chosen.
You are right, nowadays it seems as if the roles of other things play into account. The more popular your site is with social media, the more Google see your site as an authority… or so it appears!
Great article!
John Engle
Hi John!
Thanks for stopping by here, it’s always a pleasure to see you! And I appreciate your additional comments here, you are right, it’s a bit more competitive nowadays, and with Google and the rest continually updating their ranking methods it keeps us on our toes, and Lord knows I’m just trying to catch up most of the time! And thanks again for your review on the SEO plugin, I have it now but I have not yet put it to work!, so many other things going on!
Again, thanks a lot for your comment!
Wishing you Massive Success,

This is easily understood for a newbie like myself. I am just starting to learn all of this and you put it in a very digestable manner…thanks for the info!!
You’re welcome Lisa! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Wishing You Tremendous Success,

Hi, your site is very informative. Thanks for sharing. will wisit your site again. Thankyou!
Hi Vicki,
You always provide such a wealth of information! And, you always seem to be giving the advice I’m particularly looking for at any given time. It can be a challenge to keep up with all of this but it’s imperative in order to be competitive. Three years ago I decided to go freelance and, as a writer, you can’t just write any more. I not only have to optimize my own website so people can find me but also the copy I write for clients (be it website, blog, article or press release). I don’t position myself as an SEO expert but it has to be part of the pitch for sure.
Thanks for the great insight!
Anne
Thanks so much Amy! I really appreciate your letting me know that I’ve given you something that is helpful and timely! You’re right, we can’t ignore SEO anymore, and even then it’s just a piece of the puzzle! But as we master that skill, many of the rest of them seem easy, although it really isn’t a hard one in and of itself!
I’m glad you stopped by and thanks for your comment!

Wishing You Brilliant Success,
People often ask me things like these. “How important is social media to a business?” or “Can I use social media without a blog?” And I always tell them that, social media and seo are individually powerful methods when it comes to business. Both can stand alone and be effective BUT would you rather have a good site or a great site? I sure would choose the latter.
You are so right Veronica! I agree completely, and social media is even more important now that Google pays such close attention to it!
Definitely search engine optimization campaigns work more when various cmpaigns are undertaken simultaneously. After google Panda search engines like Google are using social media signals and metrics more than signals that are coming from publisher’s end. So, definitely when you are sing these 3 combo pack like keyword research, SEO and Social media it can reap great benefits in upcoming years.
Nice post Vicki
Social media is still very important factor for seo even after panda & penguin update. It helps to build good relationships with readers and at the same time, it helps to drive traffic to your blog.
Thanks for the post and keep up the good work.
Hi Chaitanya, Thank you and Yes you are absolutely right! While panda, penguin and similar updates at Google change up how Google traffic may measure up, the social media landscape still provides much of our traffic potential! Consistency is key, and keywords do still matter, even if you don’t have to be an SEO scientist!
I appreciate you!
