  1. These are some great “anti-examples,” Vicki! If I had a dollar for every time my upline tried to get me to do those things, I wouldn’t need to do this business any more ;-) These are some things that we really need to remember as network marketers. If you bug people so much they don’t want to talk to you, how can you ever get them to join?

      Thank You Steve!

I know, it’s funny but people are sometimes stuck in doing things a certain way when it’s not really as effective as they might think.

I’m glad you are doing things your own way instead of following advice you see isn’t working for you!

      Wishing you Awesome Success!

  2. Hey Vicki,
I’ve run into quite a few profiles with out pictures. I don’t bother to look at them or take them serious.

    Well done Vicki,

It needed to be said. It’s Ok to promote the odd affiliate link every now and again, in and a amongst all the great value you offer but to add someone as a friend with the sole intention of spamming them the first chance you get is a little crazy.

Its exactly the same as running down the street after someone you just met in the park and asking them to spend 100′s of dollars lol.

Hopefully the spammers will read this post and take note :)

      Hi Beth!

Thanks! I do think it bears repeating every now and then for those just getting into marketing online. There’s really more to it than one might think at first, and it’s always all about relationships, no matter what business you are in, MLM or not! So most people would realize that it’s not possible to create relationships by starting out with a pitch, yet some people do it anyway!

As always, I appreciate your stopping by, always a pleasure to see you!

    Vicki,

You always share great value, i know that over the long weekend i got someone that spammed my wall with junk, unfortunately i did not have my laptop with me and i am not able to delete stuff using my iphone till i got back to my pc but when i did first thing i did was remove this person from my facebook friends and deleted the post, so spamming = failure and delete :)

      Thank You Chris! :)

That’s funny you come across this post after having just been spammed! (well maybe Not so funny!) Don’t people get that posting their biz op on your wall is like walking into your living room as you are sitting with your friends and spouting off about their product or service? It’s every bit as rude, so how they would ever have any success doing this is beyond me! Maybe after hundreds of failed attempts they’ll finally realize they’ve been wasting their time, but to the exasperation of many having had to delete or worse, ban the abuser!

Thanks for stopping by and pitching in!

I think it is great that you bring this subject up as I am sure that some people still don’t get it. I think the more it is discussed the serious people might actually sit back and think about why people are Unfriending them and realize what they are doing is Not the right way. For me if you can’t even provide a picture, be it good or bad, shows me that you are not really serious about marketing. Thanks.

    • Vicki says:

Thank you Andre! Yes it does bear repeating as new people come along every day and haven’t the slightest clue about doing serious business which requires building relationships. That excludes spamming, and a picture is definitely the only way to begin to let people get to know you (and it is still only a start!)

  6. Bill Rowe says:

    Well put Vicki!

A good friend and mentor once told me this definition of marketing. “Marketing is the art and science of communicating, empowering, and building a relationship with another human being based on their needs, not mine or yours.”

People do business with people. And the ones that are successful are the ones that actually do communicate. Even if it is responding to a friend request with a “Thank You”, it goes a long way in showing that you are serious.

And like Andre said, it does bear repeating. The more this kind of quality information is put out there, the more it will be found, read, and put into action by those who are looking to become successful marketers.

    Thanks again Vicki!

      Thanks Bill!

Great definition, and it”s true, it’s about the needs of the client/customer, and building relationships based on trust is the basis of sound business in all aspects.

And you’ve reminded me of one of my favorite quotes too, “No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” — James Allen. I believe that to be true!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment and add value here!

Hi Vicki, you had a great post here! I really enjoy reading this whole post and it really inspires me a lot. There were times I mislead my Internet marketing activities and what you have shared here are truly the most common mistakes. I actually evaluate myself in doing social media marketing after reading your post. And it is important that we have to listen and know our people (target audience) to exactly give what they really want. Thanks for sharing.

    • Vicki says:

      Hi Anne,

Thank you! I really appreciate that, and I think we’ve all made some of the same mistakes, it is certainly part of the learning curve! We’ll just keep getting better though as we continue moving along our path to our goals, so never give up!

      Wishing You Fabulous Success,
      Vicki
