Three Top Sponsoring Tips

sponsoring tips to successLet’s face it- the name of the game in network marketing is sponsoring, and so some basic sponsoring tips are what I’m about to give you.

Recruiting people into your MLM business is your primary business activity when it comes right down to it.

It is the way MLM businesses are built, grow and thrive.

And when this activity is duplicated, the coveted passive residual income is finally achieved. You are then free to enjoy more time, more money, and give more to your family, friends and your team!

But what are the things you look for in a prospect and ultimately a business partner?

How do you approach them?

These are the things I keep at the top of my list of sponsoring tips as I work to sponsor people into my business.

Top Sponsoring Tips

  1. Have Belief, Confidence and Posture! Belief is a foundational requirement for successful sponsoring. This gives you the confidence and posture to create the attractor factor that will have people interested in what you are doing. It also allows you to maintain control of the conversation more easily, and puts your prospect at ease. You will then build belief for your prospect as well, as they have a feeling of confidence about what you have to offer them. One way to ensure that you create belief and confidence is to use your upline for three ways.

This is invaluable to you in your gaining experience and  confidence if you don’t have it yet.

Just remember, your belief is not dependent on your level of success but in what you have to offer.

  2. Rule out anyone not qualified for this business or to work with you.

The second most important sponsoring tip is that you really have to become an expert at sorting. And by that I mean resist the urge to spend your valuable time with people who just are not that serious.

Rule out anyone interested in making a quick buck, a lottery mentality, someone looking for a get rich quick scheme.

And most importantly, rule out anyone hostile, or with a negative attitude, or overly fearful.

But, also rule out anyone who does not understand that this is an opportunity, not a guarantee! You are not making income claims, and their success has everything to do with their diligence and motivation.

They must have the desire to be a home business builder, and they must be aware that it takes a lot of hard work, discipline, responsibility, and persistence.

  3. Actively Listen, then Customize your Approach Ask questions. Find out what they do for a living, what they like to do for fun, and get a sense of their personality type. Listen to their response! Listening is an active skill and many of us tend to want to talk too much. Remember we have two ears and one mouth!Explore a bit further what makes them tick, you really want to determine why they have an interest in this at all. You need to discover their ‘Why’!

Without a deeply rooted ‘Why’ you will never have someone willing to be a true business builder, serious enough to give up their TV time at night and do what it takes to succeed.

Prodding with further questions can also help you to root out objections ahead of their raising them, putting them at ease as you are ready ahead of them. Handling Objections requires just a little bit of skill!

And match your pace with theirs. Tone your voice down if you are speaking with someone who is quiet, be more upbeat if you have someone excitable, and have resources ready for those analytical types who need all the information.

Remember, you want to meet them on their level!

Though there are a few things not quite at the top of the list, such as having a plan, knowing how many people you need, or getting someone to make a decision, these are at least some things that I think are key in being a successful recruiter.

Sponsoring of course does not end there.

Beyond Sponsoring Tips

It is absolutely critical that you help your new enrollee to duplicate your success, plug them into team calls and websites, whatever resources you have available. Duplication is key, so let them know that you have some key sponsoring tips for them!

  1. Great post Vicki,
I like everything in #2 Rule out anyone not qualified for this business and it’s very important to have a deeply rooted “Why”. I call it your “Big Dream”.
    Thanks…

Yep, if someone can’t determine their Why, it is sometimes helpful to get them dreaming by asking a few questions. It’s definitely a powerful drive for keeping you active in your business!

I hope it does help a lot of folks. I sure wish I had these guidelines when i started instead of just make a list of every breathing human you know!

    Hi Vicki,

Good stuff. I agree with Freddie, #2 is good.

You really need to weed out the unqualified people so that you can spend more time with people that are interested in growing a business. Don’t speak to every tom, dick and harry cause you’ll end up wasting ALOT of your time.

    Cheers,

All great points! Finding the qualified people is so important but can be so hard at the beginning. I can be tempting to try to simply bring in the numbers, but for long-run success finding quality people is what really matters!

You’re right, finding qualified people is really so important! That’s one of the reasons I like to use attraction marketing, because it does help to qualify folks, although you still have to continue to do that further in following up!

Good to see you again, thanks for stopping by!
      Wishing You Tremendous Success,

  6. Hi Vicki!

Thanks for inviting me back to your Blog…it’s always nice seeing you. :)

I agree, one has to be an excellent listener & a responsible sponsor in order to be successful in Network Marketing. Being intuitive doesn’t hurt either!!

      Hi Steven!

Thank you for stopping by! Always a pleasure to see you too!

You are right, your intuition plays a big part in helping you to know how to have a meeting of the minds with your prospect.

Some people are more difficult to read. But with intuition and practice you begin to know which of those are the ones you need to spend more time with!

  8. Vicki, great post. Finding the right people to work with is so important. We have to act is if we are hiring for our own multi-million dollar corporation. Act as if these are the people that we will work along side for the rest of our lives. (Rule #2 Rocks)

    Thanks for sharing.

  9. Vicki,

Thanks for sharing , i like #2 the best : Rule out anyone not qualified for this business or to work with you. , a good funnel system will weed out these folks so you can work with people that are motivated and that want to do well and have the means to do so.

Yes, that #2 can really come back to bite you if you end up recruiting the wrong kind of people into your business! One bad apple as they say… the team dynamics can really be hosed up with a negative ninny or someone with a lack mindset involved!

      Wishing You a Brilliant Day!

  10. JP Sloan says:

    Hey Vicki,

#2 is key for sure. If a the business is not for them then it simply hurts both people. Dragging someone hostile along wastes both individuals valuable time. This industry is about mutual benefit!

I wrote a blog entry about this very point: http://lossandgain.com/?p=70

Thanks for the tips. I have really enjoyed reading your blog!

Great content. That is the truth.

  13. Lewis C says:

Love thr content. This article is right on point, especially when it mentioned Posturing. I think this is key. You can say everything wrong but with the correct posturing you still have a chance with the prospect joining. I love this industry. Work on getting better and everything else gets better:)

    • Vicki says:

      Hi Lewis!

Thanks a lot, I know, it’s almost as important as anything else that you do, having confidence and posture. I love this industry too, it’s a great place to grow!

      Wishing You Brilliant Success,
      Vicki
