Prevent the Insidious Sabotage of Negativity with Powerful Positive Thinking!

positive thinking Do you have trouble letting negativity leak into your day? Or worse, find it difficult to overcome negative circumstances in your life?

Do you find yourself inexplicably distracted by bouts of anxiety, worry, sadness, or feelings of inadequacy?

Or do you think of yourself as a positive person, but still find yourself struggling to feel really happy?

Whether you are being overtaxed in your schedule, influenced by negative family, friends or coworkers, or even just listening to the news or watching dramatic entertainment, you may not realize how much affect this input, and even events from your past,  has over you.

Did you know that your subconscious mind absorbs EVERYTHING happening around you, real or fiction, positive or negative?

And the problem is, in our daily lives we are exposed to FAR more negative input than positive, UNLESS we control what we let in, what we are exposed to.

The fact is, our subconscious minds have everything to do with our well being and peace of mind.

It controls our emotions, our thinking and ultimately, our actions. It controls how we live our lives and how our lives turn out.

Negativity feeds more negativity. It can sneak up on you if you let it, becoming an insidious destructive force, sabotaging your day and your dreams!

Yes sometimes things happen that are not pleasant to deal with, sometimes tragic events in our lives.

But in those cases, be grateful for what you can, and know that things will get better. I have been to hell and back more than once and can tell you that gratitude and peace were my lifeline at times.

But when you find yourself subjected to needless negativity, just put an immediate stop to it! Instead of allowing yourself exposure to it, take every step to rid yourself of it.

  • If you find yourself listening to someone rant endlessly about something or someone they are upset about, change the subject. If they do not allow the subject to be changed, WALK AWAY!
  • Instead of watching the news every evening, or watching a tragic story on TV, read a chapter from a personal development book or join a mastermind discussion group.
  • When someone does something to upset you, put it in perspective, perhaps try walking in their shoes, or consider a potential lesson from a painful situation.
  • When you miss an important goal, realize you will get there with a little more effort.

“If you have trouble seeing the bright side of life, polish the dull side.”

We all have struggles that we must deal with each and every day. But there are a few things we can do to ensure our path to a brighter one:

  • Put your troubles into perspective, and realize they are only part of the bigger picture, and that you CAN control your initial reaction, and continued reflection on past events or negative thought.
  • Reach out to others, helping them along their way, and letting them help you.
  • Be grateful. Gratitude is a most powerful healer! Create a gratitude book, and in it every day, write down every thing that you have to be grateful for, and everyone that you have touched that you’ve helped in some way.
  • Read positive, uplifting books.  Personal development books are wonderful teachers and tools to enrich and fertilize the mind! Find one (or several) that speaks to you.
  • Use affirmations to ensure your control, preventing negative thoughts.

Remember, it is a fact that the mind cannot contain two opposing thoughts at the same time! If you force positive thoughts in, negative ones must go out!

The most basic and yet most important skill that you can learn, which will help you in all aspects of your life including your business success, is controlling your thoughts, staying in the positive and NEVER letting negativity suck the energy out of you.

Positive thinking is a powerful energizer that will create momentum of its own, and soon you won’t have to even think about it, your mind will not allow negative thoughts to persist!

To Your Every Happiness and Success!

It means the world to me that this was timely for you, and am so glad it helped. Even last night I felt myself getting a bit blue and having thoughts that weren’t the right ones, I had to stop myself a couple of times! Just goes to show you we can’t neglect what’s going on in our minds!

      Keep up the positive thoughts!
      Wishing You a Brilliant Day,

I know, sometimes it is sad to see people stuck in negativity and they do not even realize it! As for me I am stuck in positivity, the eternal optimist, and I have no time for negative influences (I notice an immediate almost physical reaction to it sometimes!).

  3. Thanks for your post Vicki. It’s all about controlling what we let in both externally and internally. The subconscious mind is a wonderful thing, but as you said it absorbs everything. This ties in to one of my recent posts Don’t Watch the News.

Thanks for your great article and you have a blessed day.

    Michael

    • Vicki says:

Thank you Michael! It’s funny we were both on the same wavelength because I noticed your post about our “Inside Job” just after I posted this yesterday! And I don’t watch the news anymore, and am a lot more at peace for it! It’s no trouble keeping up with what’s going on in the world without being on a 24 hr news schedule as is so much of the media!

      Wishing You a Brilliant Day!

  4. Hi Vicki! I’m generally a positive person, but sometimes I have to really work to keep out the negative. I think it’s great that positive and negative can’t occupy the same space!

Thanks for sharing a great post.

      Hi James!

Yes I think everyone is going to have a bit of a challenge with some negativity now and then and as long as you know you can’t have two opposing thoughts in your head at one time! It gives us a tool knowing at least we can replace a negative one with a neutral or pleasant one!

Hi Vicki, you are right on. Misery loves company, so they say, and constantly complaining people really can bring you down.
I’ve found that they don’t even realize they are being negative! Sometimes they even resent you for being positive, then you know it’s time to distance yourself from the offender.
I have done exactly that, although painful if it’s a friend, it has made a great difference in my happiness quotient. :)

    Joe

    • Vicki says:

      Hi Joe!

Yes you are right, sometimes I have found myself resented for being the positive one and I’ve then distanced myself, if even in my mind when physically not possible. But the happiness quotient does indeed increase!

    Hey Vicki!

Great posts! Staying upbeat and positive is surely a way to attract like minded people into your life too.

Although I think if we’re feeling down it’s ok to recognize that without buying into it. Sometimes people have a tendency to mask their feelings.

    See you in the Tribe!

    • Vicki says:

      Hi Ryan!

Thank you! Yes you are right, positivity attracts positivity and that is the mindset we are looking for. You are also right in pointing out that we shouldn’t mask our feelings, but we ought to put the negative events in our lives in a perspective that helps us to find peace with them, and ultimately not let these events send us into a downward spiral that may become chronic!

Wishing You All the Happiness and Success!

  7. Great post Vicki.

My current financial situation was entirely created by my negative self-talk, despite all of the work I have been putting into my business. There are many tools to help get rid of it, and you mentioned a lot of them. Here is another one that works very well. Before going to sleep at night, review all of the things that are working and what values you have that they satisfy. It gives your subconscious some great material to work on while you sleep.

      Hi Wayne!

Isn’t it amazing the levels that we can get to financially or personally before realizing how much we could have changed! And thanks for adding some value here, I actually do a lot of that myself, helps me to get a good perspective on the day’s accomplishments and what I want to focus on the following day. And that DOES give you mind good stuff to work on!

  8. Shaylee says:

    Hey Vicki!

Great post! This is true in regards to who you surround yourself with too. Sometimes when others are feeling negative it’s important to feed them with positive thoughts. If they are unwilling to receive the positive thoughts and continue to throw negative ones at you it’s important to evaluate that relationship.

    Thanks for sharing Vicki!

      Thanks Shaylee!

Yes indeed, it is up to us when we are bombarded with someone’s negativity to try and turn them toward the light so-to-speak! It sometimes works, but then sometimes it does not. I have had to do the re-evalution you mentioned, and sometimes it is painful, but it is necessary for our own well being and success!

And if there were no tomorrow how would we rather be in our last moments? Making the best possible of any given situation!
