Too Much Training, Too Little Time! What Really Works Anyway?
Posted by Vicki in Core Training, Personal Development
It’s absolutely dizzying, the number of different programs, training and lead generating systems there are out there.
And all of them claiming to be the absolute gospel, the end-all-be-all solution that you need to end all of your marketing woes!
You know you really can’t believe all of them, so how do you know what to believe? Which training system to buy? What is worth the money?
If you’re like me, or like I was a little over a year ago, you may have by now spent months following every new training course that came along, and have decided it was high time you did something about that massive leak in your wallet.
By this time you’ve just about been overwhelmed to the point of inaction, paralyzed with too much information, and spread too thin in too many ways.
But I will tell you this. Since I decided to STOP IT! and just focus, and settle into a practical plan, I have seen the ability to focus increase.
And I’ve seen results materialize.
And all the while, I’ve seen endless other systems and solutions continue to come and go, all repeating the same messages.
Telling you ‘This is What Works!’ and ‘This is What You’ve Been Waiting For’!
And as it turns out, these are constant repackaging of the same basic skills that I have been telling you about in this blog for over a year now.
If you have read half of these posts, or have downloaded the ‘Success in 10 Steps’ eBook, you have an idea of what is available without your having to get out your pocketbook.
And I will tell you what really works.
It is nothing short of this:
Your Own Mindset and Your Unrelenting Persistence!
“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.” Walter Elliott
Yes of course you do need training, but if you have been doing this for any length of time, it is highly likely that there is nothing you have not already learned yet that you are missing to the point that you cannot take action and be getting results.
In other words, stop sharpening your axe and swing it!
And if you have just started, know that you do not have to pay nearly fifty to over a hundred dollars a month to be as effective as you know you can be.
The only thing stopping you from doing what you have to do is you!
So get out of your own way and get moving!
The first thing you must do is to stop following every red herring set out to pick your pockets. These are not what will make your success or break it.
Learn to focus on your activities, the ones that will actually build your business. And in this business, your primary business activities should be finding new customers and business partners.
If there is a particular skill you want to learn, then search that out. There are probably hundreds of sources of training on the topic, in addition to what our training system offers for free.
What matters is that you put your efforts efficiently and persistently toward building your business, while learning new things as you have time for them. And many of the skills that you do need in this business are time tested, nothing new.
So get focused on doing just that.
Marketing a system and marketing training and training to market are time takers that can never end if you let them control your calendar.
Do what it takes to define your goals and your dreams, put them in writing.
Once you have internalized that dream and have that burning desire, you will be able to program your mind to diligently and continually do each little thing that you need to do to succeed.
For it is not the huge leaps that create success or cause failure. It is the culmination of many small steps or the failure to take those steps that make the difference. It’s these cumulative steps that make ALL the difference.
Stop jumping from company to company, following every other pre-launch, and marketing every other system you think will add something to your arsenal. You could end up wasting years of valuable time in the process.
Promote yourself, and remember how to enjoy what you are doing, being effective while learning but while focusing on your primary business activities, and your ultimate goals, your dreams!
And above all, believe in yourself!
Yours in Success!

Hey Vicki, this is such a good message and obviously by the comments many agree an important one.
I am fairly new to the online world and have suffered from looking at everything that comes along and not following through with very much.
Your analogy of stop sharpening the axe and swing it struck a chord as it is in line with how I am feeling right now. Time to do!
Thanks Vicki.

Hi Sue!
Don’t feel too badly about looking at a lot of things without necessarily followiong through so much when you are new – I think there is some value to carefully evaluating different programs (as long as you aren’t spending a lot of money on all of them). It’s good to get a feel for the scope of what you have to deal with, and what sorts of things are available. Just be careful not to opt into tooooo many lists or you’ve got a huge time management problem on your hands!
But, most things really are a repackaging of previous things (as we all like the fresh content although that it sometimes all that makes it seem more appealing). So if you have learned anything along the way, just be sure to implement and keep on that Slight Edge so that you begin to see progress!
Wishing You Brilliant Success!
Hey Vicki,
thanks for sharing your powerful knowledge with us.
Informing yourself about something and feeding your mind with knowledge is important for the growing process. Anyway if you can´t implement something that you´ve learned you´ll never reach the success that´re capable of.
Just focus on implementing a little bit from what you´ve learned and your results will optimize by itself!
Have an amazing rest of your day,
Gerald

Hi Vicki,
Very good points… I have been spinning my wheels lately, so I came up with a schedule, and I’m sticking to it. Right now is my hour to learn more from all of the Online Marketing guru’s out there (yourself included), by reading their articles that they post on the Unified Tribe.
I recently had that pleasure to consult with Eric Goldstein… one thing that he said that still sticks in my mind is “Sloppy Success is better than Perfect Procrastination”… I have been the ‘perfect procrastination’ lately, so I am attempting to change that.
Anyway… you have a fantastic article here!
Have a awesome day!

Hi John!
Always a pleasure to see you, and thanks for including me in your influential circle of ‘guru’s! I also read and follow Eric and what a great quote there, thanks for including that, I love it! “Sloppy Success is better than Perfect Procrastination”! I have been thinking of a post lately about just that, how striving for perfection is equivalent to procrastinating!
Again, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, great to hear from you!
Wishing you Awesome Success,

Fabulous commentarty, Vicki. You completely summed up my personal struggles and that of many others. While you know you shouldn’t be jumping from one hot product or system or even co. for that matter to the next, it’s a challenging thing to do. You have to be strong and know that you know most of what you need to know to be successful in this industry. It’s a matter of applying what you know. Sticking to a few key business-building activities and really do the daily action items that build over time. Thanks again, Vicki!

I like what you said, “you have to be strong and know that you know most of what you need to know to be successful, it’s a matter of applying what you know”! That just about sums it up. Swinging the axe is necessary or sharpening it was a waste of energy (and sometimes money!).
Thank you for stopping by and for your comment!
Wishing You Fabulous Success,

I have found that everything we need to know about marketing is free. The “special tricks” that you have to pay for lighten you wallet and end up just distracting you from what you should be doing. The other thing is that in MLM we want new people to be able to duplicate what we have done, which is easier if we focus on and become really proficient at the basics.
Wayne Woodworth´s last blog ..How Magnets Heal the Body
Hi Wayne!
You are so right, on both counts! There is some value in learning from the experts but you don’t want to over complicate because duplication is then more difficult. Of course duplication is only possible at some levels, and we are as individuals not duplicatable. And sometimes it’s worth using a system that you can plug people into where internet marketing is concerned, because there is so much to learn and it is truly overwhelming. And while many people are although capable of doing it themselves, creating capture pages, writing ad copy, managing auto responders, some people need a system which will make those pieces more plug and play.
Still in the world of online network marketing, it’s good to stay plugged into a mastermind group, and continued learning and personal development, but we just cannot forget to implement what we’ve learned!
Wishing You Fabulous Success!
