I love this quote, “If you can’t see the bright side of life, polish the dull side!”, though I don’t know who said it.
And there are so many more wonderful quotes emphasizing the power of a positive attitude, like this one by Winston Churchill, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”, or by Lou Holtz, “Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it!”
Most people know this to be true, that our attitudes can make or break us.
The attitudes by which we live every day directly affects the altitudes of our success and happiness.
And it’s because that attitude drives our actions and reactions, which in turn attracts a manifestation of our most focused thoughts.
But many people have difficulty keeping negativity at bay, especially when faced with extremely challenging times.
And when negativity is allowed to control our minds and our lives, it wreaks havoc on our ability to focus, be at peace, be well, and to be happy.
It also affects what we attract.
So the trick becomes how to change the course of our thoughts, especially during times of duress.
Action, Reaction, Attraction
This quote is applicable in more than just a very physical sense, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Sir Isaac Newton
In the metaphysical, the realities that can be created by our minds are indeed affected by our emotional reactions to situations.
This Action / Reaction catalyst leads to an Attraction of that on which we have our most focused thoughts, particularly those which are accompanied by emotions.
And it begins with our immediate reaction to situations that happen in our lives.
This reaction can have a chain reaction – if we let the reaction be a bad one, it will perpetuate and become more difficult to stop and replace with positive thoughts.
The emotions caused by this reaction or bad thought will in turn make us feel worse, perpetuating more ill feelings and emotion, and more of the same type thoughts.
We need to train ourselves to recognize this thought and reaction pattern as soon as possible so that we can take action to turn it around, refocus our thoughts and actions toward something more positive.
This is the essence of practicing the Law of Attraction.
Keeping in mind this simple truth, that our actions and reactions affects our attitude, which affects our altitude of success by way of affecting what we attract.
So focus on your thoughts, and keep practicing the positive thinking until you can’t think any other way.
When you are faced with challenges, at the very least think of what in the world you have to be grateful for. Let that be your catalyst that carries you through these times and assists you in your search for more positivity. Trust it, It will come.
To your Continued Happiness and Success!

Hi Vicki!
I just wanted to drop by today to say ‘hi’ & also to support your Attraction blog post…KUDO’s @ you.
I agree, one must always keep a firm grip on the action/reaction monster.
Have a pleasant day…your tribal friend Steven Suchar
Hi Severn!
Thanks so much! I appreciate your support! Yes, that action/reaction monster is so key, and if we can get hold of that then there’s no stopping us!
Thanks again!
Vicki
Hi Vicki,
A couple of thoughts crossed my mind while reviewing this good post revolving around such things as…
Our mental patterns and how they effect our lives
The necessity of being aware and replacing “the bad with the good.”
And the place of gratefulness in the cycle.
Simple truths always need to be returned to, don’t they?
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the day,
Lee
Thank You Lee!
I appreciate your insights and commentary! Yes I believe in focusing on the simplest truths, never wavering constants – I heard Jim Rohn say for example that it’s not the wind but the set of the sail that determines our destiny, and we all have the same wind. It’s up to us to set the sail!
Wishing You Every Success!

Ah, one of my favorites (along with the rest of the world, lol!): Jim Rohn!
Probably one of his quotes that would go right along with your post would be: “Don’t just get through the day: get *from* the day!”
Enjoy,
Lee

Hi Vicki,
I love this post! Some great quotes and it’s so true as you state:
“When you are faced with challenges, at the very least think of what in the world you have to be grateful for. Let that be your catalyst”. Great advice!
Our attitude is so important, especially when building a team. If we go around projecting even the slightest bit of negativity, people pick up on it. Then it’s the monkey see, monkey do syndrome.
Thanks for the great article.

Hi Vicky,
How do you usually turn your thoughts towards the positive things when faced with (abrupt) difficulties? Is there a technique that you have been using?
Sienna Loa
Hi Sienna!
Thanks for asking, that’s a good question. It’s a matter of conditioning and years of practice, but as I may feel my blood pressure rise, prickly skin and that flush feeling, heart racing, I stop and quickly ask myself whatever questions I can to reason out the perspective that is ‘this is not the worst that can happen’. When it’s the worst possible thing, finding things that you can be grateful for, however small, is key. Forgiveness is another factor of VITAL importance but often the hardest to come by (not immediate). The immediate may take careful thought, ,head clearing, exercise relaxation techniques (the most handy being deep breathing for example) But it’s also a matter of life experiences. I’ve been through enough bad times to put the smaller stuff into perspective. The bigger bad stuff requires the solid belief in yourself, your abilities to recover, the gratitude and forgiveness.
Hope this helps, keep that positive attitude practice and it will become a much easier habit to have!
Vicki
The deep breathing technique is effective Vicky! I had this friend who hacked my account and stole some of my money. I almost want to do something ugly to him. However I remember the relaxation technique (deep breathing). It did not bring back my money but, it did bring back my calmness even just for awhile. I do appreciate this advise Vicky!
