Awesome read Vicki, everything was on point! I liked the part where your mentor told you to only sponsor people that you’d want to go on a 1-month cruise with, nice. =) It's all about building genuine relationships.

I agree with Jim; one of the main criteria for a successful business is focus in the correct areas. It's simply impossible as well as unnecessary to excel in every aspect of commerce, so it's vital that a company selects and directs their attention to the elements most relevant to them. As you say, this business is all about communication so creating positive and lucrative relationships is the name of the game. By getting hung up on irrelevant detail you only spread yourself too thinly and end up falling down on the fundamentals. It sounds like you've got a well thought out strategy that focusses on what really matters. You're definitely right to value one on one relationships; these will prove much more useful and should be more enduring than less personal connections. Good luck and thanks for the advice!

Number 2 does not stand alone. You MUST follow up personally. Sometimes I don't have time to follow up personally for more than a couple of days (shame on me but I am working 80+ hrs a week so it's sometimes impractical). In those cases, follow up emails give the person what I said I would supply them with (ie. my ebook for example), but I ALWAYS follow up in person. Additionally, my emails are all written personally by me, and I reply to every question someone asks. I always provide personal service whenever possible, and often for free when my time is worth well over $100 per hour. So yes, #2 is necessary for internet marketing when you have 20 leads per day opting into your list, and #3 is NOT to be forgotten, as it's an order of sequence, not importance!

Vicki said "it is ALL about relationships"

Guess I am somewhat confused because if it is all about relationships why would you use step 2 of your system: "Automated Prospect Followup". If you are wanting to build a relationship I would not think receiving emails from an auto-responder would be an appropriate method. Maybe its just me but it seems very impersonal and like you are only in it for the money.

Totally agree. Way to many small business owners focus way too much on small details that doesn't matter.

If it doesn't produce income, it's probably not worth doing - and that includes buying office furniture, choosing product names and lots of other "creative" activities.
