Sometimes we go through life feeling that no one notices our contributions. Or that we’re talking to walls and being talked ‘at’ and not heard. Does this sound familiar?

Well think of this. What you don’t see and don’t hear and don’t realize is that you DO make a difference every day with every little thing that you do for someone. Even if that is only a smile!

Do you know that I so appreciate such a small act of kindness from someone on a day that I might be struggling. When I get a smile, particularly when unexpected from a complete stranger, who takes the time to look me in the eye and just reach out in that small way, it can and does have the power to lift me out of the doldrums and snap me out of it in some way. I then smile, and I feel better immediately. But that person may have had no idea of the affect they just had.

Remember how valuable you are and learn to appreciate yourself! Be kind to yourself, have good thoughts and don’t let the bad ones in.

And know that the little steps that you take toward a goal counts, and though unseen by anyone else, gets you closer to that goal. You are making a difference. And it is ok that sometimes no one seems to see…..

This video was truly moving to me when I saw it some time ago, and so I wanted to share this with you.

Thank you Ellen! I was moved by this video and it made me think how sometimes we feel what we’re doing hardly makes a difference, and it’s good to remind ourselves that it does indeed!

      Thanks again for the support!
      Wishing you every success,
      Vicki

      Tricia,

I’m so glad you liked that – I really love the way she speaks to this point. It really hit me that so many people probably face this same feeling and need to be reminded how important our efforts really are!

      All the best,
      Vicki

The presentation is of course almost tangibly reminiscent of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (notably Matthew 6). I suppose the flip side application would be for us to notice (affirm, praise, express gratitude toward) others–hopefully not to stroke their pride or flatter their ego, but to foreshadow the future praise of God and to encourage in the marathon of life. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” — the Golden Rule also coming from the Sermon on the Mount.

    God help us.

Thanks for posting this. I think we all need a little encouragement sometimes! :)

  5. Thank you for this great blog Vicki. Nicole Johnson is wonderful when she said in this video that God was saying to her, “I see you. You are not invisible to me. No sacrifice is too small for me to notice… ”
This point really resonated with me too. So encouraging, so true.
    Blessings in Light always.
