Have you ever met with someone who attacked everyone they knew about their network marketing opportunity?

Or went on for eons about how their product was the absolute best, most scientifically proven, advanced and groundbreaking than all the rest?

Most people have, and it is precisely why the network marketing industry has earned such a bad name.

The philosophy of  “make a list of your family and friends, and 100 people you know” to pitch your product or opportunity to has had  people encountering these situations so many times that they turn and run at the mere mention of “MLM”.

And all due to the fact that this is the extent of any sales or marketing training any of the newbie network marketer has had.

Have you or anyone you’ve known ever invested hundreds, if not thousands of dollars buying product, tools, sales materials, tirelessly attending seminars and conferences (and particularly buying leads) in their MLM business, only to get nowhere at all?

And then to be blamed by their upline that they just didn’t do enough, and should just never give up?

Many people have tried and failed, and it has turned them away from the industry, when if only they realized that their failures were really only due to the fact that they just weren’t told there were certain things they should know about.

They were told it was easy, and never that there were actual skills they should learn before ever bringing up their product or opportunity to anyone, particularly their family and friends!

For then then they might have learned the RIGHT ways to go about this business, and as a result truly have had some success.

The Lies

But they were told just how easy it is to repeat the same company line about the product and comp plan, and that was where the training left off.

And most likely, they were never taught how to truly understand an MLM compensation plan, or even the Policies and Procedures to which they were agreeing when signing up.

Everyone will tell you that their comp plan is the absolute best in the industry, it might even be patent pending!

But how will you determine just how many people you will  actually need in your organization to reach your target income? Do you know to take into account breakage, or attrition? The latter depends a great deal on the ability for a part time person to make some additional income.

Stop The Insanity!

Your hair dresser or pizza delivery guy might be ready for this business, but wouldn’t you rather be talking to someone who is really looking for an opportunity like this?

If your car salesman or mailman IS looking, then that’s great!  But in all likelihood, by talking someone like this into joining your business, and not offering them any real training, then you might as well be hiring an interior decorator to build your house.

The tarnished reputation bestowed upon network marketing is hard earned because of the use of the tactics of targeting every person you know and meet without understanding the first thing about sales or marketing.

Network marketing is a business of promotion and sales, and yet it is being run by people who know nothing about marketing or sales.

This is truly unfortunate, since network marketing, when done properly, can in fact provide a method to achieve a true passive, residual income for retirement.

But what is required are acquired skills which take time to master, just as with any profession which you plan to be successful at.

Think about it – do you expect to rise to the top and make a six figure income in only 8 weeks from the start of a career in any other industry?

But in order to make a quick buck for themselves by becoming a sponsor monster, someone in the industry, long ago, came up with the bright idea to use everyone’s warm market so that they would not have to take the time to train their downline in these skills, or learn them themselves.

As a matter of fact, the industry has adopted this philosophy and created systems around it in order to make money fast.

But it does not work for 98% of the population. Yes it works fine for the heavy hitters.  Just look at any of the public Income Disclosures (if you ever get to see them), and note the percentages making over 6 figures to the total numbers of active (that is ACTIVE) distributors.

What’s Broken Needs Fixing

Doing this business properly includes identifying your target audience, utilizing a marketing system, and providing value with that system so that you are solving a problem.

Pitching friends and family is inefficient, and is for most, just plain unproductive. And it is ruining the industry for millions when it could instead provide a financial stimulus package that to this day has only been offered to failing corporations.

Hopefully people will take education in this industry seriously so that they can help train others and repair the tarnished reputation of an industry that can offer a true financial stimulus plan where so many other businesses in this country and the world are failing!
